BEER TIP: Why do the English drink warm beer?

Save that frosty mug for your “Lite” Lagers. Most beers should not be served ice-cold. The colder a beverage is, the fewer subtle flavors you are able to perceive. When poured too cold, the rich caramel malt of a Scottish Ale or the bright citrus hop of an American Pale Ale is lost. Generally, a “cellar temperature” of between 40° and 50° F will allow a beer’s true character to shine.
